WATER-SKIING: Emerald's Jack Mooney skidded across Bushy Brown's waterskiing lake at Woodford last weekend at high speeds to claim the Queensland junior title.

The 15-year-old won the trick event at the Queensland Barefoot state championships and was second in the slalom, giving him gold overall.

Central Region Barefoot Water-ski Club publicity officer David Bray said it was Mooney's first time at state championships and he would step up to nationals in April.
