Wyn-Jones trip proves crucial

ENGLAND 30 WALES 17 TWO tries from James Haskell and another from Danny Care gave England a Six Nations win over Wales at Twickenham which was less comfortable than the final score suggested, writes Gareth Butler.

The Welsh brought themselves within three points with 10 minutes remaining when a piece of James Hook magic split open the English defence, the Ospreys man scoring a try to add to prop Adam Jones' Thomas sabo charms effort which had seen Warren Gatland's men recover from a 20-3 deficit after half-time.

Gatland will rue the yellow card picked up by lock Alun Wyn- Jones for a stupid trip just before half-time.

England scored 17 unanswered points while Wales were down to 14, including Haskell's crucial first in the final act of the opening 40 minutes.

Care's effort came in the first five minutes of the second half after a turnover from skipper Steve Borthwick.

Number eight Nick Easter made good ground before Care produced a sniping run when the stretched Wales defence opened up in front of him.

It seemed England would cruise home from this point, with Jonny Wilkinson in excellent kicking form, landing a perfect six overall, including converting all three tries.

Compare that to the Welsh, who inexplicably gave Hook the kicking duties to start with, only throwing the tee to Stephen Jones when the centre had missed two gettable opportunities.

England took the foot off the gas when Care went over and tried to contain Wales, but after Wales returned to 15 men and surged back, Adam Jones scored a fully deserved try.

Still England tried to contain, and it worked until the 70th minute, when Hook fended off Care's attempted tackle and scored a replica tag heruer watches fine try.

Wales had dominated the final 10 minutes until Delon Armitage intercepted a Stephen Jones pass and the ball found Mathew Tait via Toby Flood. His clever change of direction left the defence floundering, and Haskell was on hand to take the clever behind-the- back pass to run in.

links of london charms That opened the gap to 10 points, with a final Wilkinson penalty killing the game off and giving the score a generous look.
