"My role's a bit different this year than it has been in previous years," he said.

"Coming off the bench is a new role for me, I've had to try to learn it and sadly I'm getting more used to it now.

"It was good to get a start and get some minutes under my belt, hopefully I'll get some more later on.

"I'll keep training as hard as I can and look to take my chances whenever they come.

"All the big rugby is still to come so hopefully I'll get a shout then."

Blythe's try levelled the scores at 5-5 before Sean Marsden put the Chiefs ahead briefly.

However, Dave Kearney scored his second try of the replica balenciaga handbags match while Matt Cornwell was in the sin bin and Paul O'Donohoe crossed late on to secure the win for Leinster. "We did some good stuff but possibly made too many mistakes, missed too many tackles and there's plenty to work on. "They picked a strong side, which is probably a credit to us. Ours was obviously a strong side as well and we did quite well against them, new combinations worked pretty well. "We did some good stuff but we weren't always able to follow it up with more good stuff. "We're not really a scratch side, we train together every day so we try not to use that as too

Old ways are best

EVERY so often, the subject of teenage pregnancies is raised and "authorities" come up with various reasons and ways to deal Thomas sabo charms with it.

Over a hundred years ago, Mary Baker Eddy wrote in her book Science & Health: "The entire education Clip on charms of children should be such as to form habits of obedience to the moral and spiritual law ... Children should be allowed to remain children in knowledge, and should become men and women only through growth in the replica balenciaga handbags understanding of man's higher nature."

Today, the school programme seems to encourage "what to do and how to do it" including the use of contraceptives, with a complete absence of moral background. Perhaps a return to the old ideas would be the answer. R Alder, via email

Oliver twisted Albertus Magnus

Mitch Oliver's three-year plan with the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team has worked to perfection thus far. In that time, Oliver, a former assistant coach at Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart, has taken a team from the bottom of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference to the regular-season title.

"In my first year, I just wanted to compete," Oliver said. "In the second year, we wanted to win some games. This year, we wanted to win the conference title."

Ray Askew scored a game-high 22 points as the Falcons wrapped up their first GNAC regular-season title Saturday with a 77-63 win at Suffolk. "We were happy, but there wasn't a big celebration," Oliver said. "We're where we wanted to be. Now it's time to take care of business."

At 19-6 and 15-3 in the conference, AMC earned the right to host all three rounds of the postseason tournament, which begins Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Rivier College.

"We had four steps this season, and we're 1-for-1," Oliver said. "The regular-season title is just the first step. We eventually want to earn an NCAA (Division III) berth."

Oliver's team is heavy on freshmen and sophomores and ran off 10 straight conference wins to take control of the GNAC. In the process, he certainly has advanced his resume, if he should eye a climb in the coaching ranks.

brochure printing "I'm not going anywhere," Oliver said. "Albertus is a great place to go to school and a great place to coach. I could stay for the next 25 years."

PLAYER OF THE YEAR REDUX

Last year, the Register staff deliberated long and hard about who should be Chanel Replica Handbags the state high school boys' basketball player of the year.

There was even an online poll about whether it should have been Torrington's Jordan Williams or Trinity Catholic's Tevin Baskin.

Both the poll and the eventual award went to Williams, and if the early returns are any indication, they got it right. While Baskin has yet to make his collegiate debut, Williams has been fantastic at Maryland.

Williams, the 6-foot-10, 260-pound forward, has started 23 games for the Terps (18-7, 8-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) and was averaging 8.8 points and 8.1 rebounds prior to Saturday's game. He has five double-doubles, including two this week.

Williams had six points and seven rebounds in a 77-56 loss at Duke and said that "dismal performance" served as an inspiration.

"Not just individually but for ourselves, we wanted to come and play strong," Williams said. "Losing like we lost to Duke, we haven't had an experience like that all year. I think it was tough for us to experience that and I think my competitiveness came out. I was pretty upset with my play at Duke. I took that personally, so (against Virginia) I wanted to come out and play stronger and show my teammates I can come back from a bad game and play good."

Williams averaged 35.7 points as a senior and ended his career as the all-time leader in Torrington High and Naugatuck Valley League history. He scored 2,228 points in his career and topped 1,000 points in his senior season alone. He also finished seventh in scoring in state history.

Baskin is expected to be in the fold at Quinnipiac next year. He never got clearance from the NCAA to play with the Bobcats this year, but he has since enrolled and would be able to play in the second semester of next season. He could make an immediate Other articles:

Fears push police crusade

Public fear of burglary and concern at the high number of violent offenders on Waikato streets drove the police to name 11 wanted criminals.

Waikato police last week took the unusual step of releasing the names to the Waikato Times. The men are wanted in connection with Operation Persil, a police operation targeting burglary, violence and dishonesty crimes.

So far, three of the 11 offenders have been caught, five are being "eyed" by police and three others are proving elusive.

Waikato police Area Commander Inspector Allan Boreham said the latest clamp-down came after an alarming upward trend in burglaries. "We ran this operation catalog printing two years ago and we ran it in a relentless way for a number of months and the burglaries dropped off . . . because it appeared that the core people were locked away."

However, those that had been jailed were inevitably released, sparking a spike.

"You can't lock these people up forever . . . when they come back out, and if the commodities are easy to steal or sell or dispose of or trade, then, until that changes, these people will do it as soon as they come out. Most of them are career-type criminals."

Mr Boreham said he would keep Persil running until he was "satisfied that we've got the lid on burglaries".

Police had launched Operation Persil after surveys of the public kept showing that burglaries scared people.

"We're not currently the most burgled city in New Zealand if you go by population, but we Replica prada wholesale are a challenged city," Mr Boreham said.

"Burglary is a problem for us and in every survey citizens always tell us that fear of their homes being burgled is a major concern . . . It is a crime that is a challenge for New Zealand as a whole."

Mr Boreham said other projects in the pipeline included targeting stolen property and increasing neighbourhood policing teams, which had worked in suburbs like Melville.

When questioned about wanted offender Danny Mooney's comments in Thursday's Waikato Times - Mooney labelled the wanted campaign "a joke" - Mr Boreham was unimpressed.

"These guys know how to play the system - but we have to be relentless with them, we have to be uncompromising . . . they're in a peer group that encourages it."

Mr Boreham said Hamilton burglary data showed that crime was heavily commodity driven. Their next goal was to shut that down.

"We believe links of london there's not enough deterrence around the property as an easy commodity," he said. "Literally they can use it as a currency; plasma TVs, electronic cameras, laptops, playstations are literally used as a currency.

"People will trade directly on those things and can then get them on the white market . . . so we're going to look at a community partnership to try and shut that down and that's what we're in talks about at the moment."

Mr Boreham said he was proud of the work his Persil team had done so far. "They're doing a good job, its a lot of work, takes a lot of staff but we are being relentless."
