Meet the man from T Force, the

It was an elite force tasked to seize and secure top secret enemy documents, equipment and key personnel as World War II drew to an end.

replica tag heruer watches Now 65 years later its 30 surviving members have won recognition from Britain's top soldier and among them is Fred Tapper, 91, of Bridgwater, Somerset.

Mr Tapper, the most modest of men, was a member of T Force, the pioneering unit formed as British troops fought their way into the heart of the Nazi regime. Storming castles, blowing safes and defusing booby traps, the force captured technological data, political files, and experts who would help rebuild the Western economy.

Keeping the vital knowledge out of the hands of the Russians was also crucial, and the unit's success helped Britain win the Cold War years later.

James Bond author Ian Fleming was a member and Mr Tapper reckons he got his inspiration for his action hero from the storming of a chateau.

Now all the survivors have been sent certificates of appreciation signed by General Sir David Richards, Chief of the General Staff.

Mr Tapper was a Territorial Army soldier who served in Tunisia, Sicily and Egypt with the 7th Field Squadron in the early years of the war, before joining 58 bomb disposal unit, helping to defuse some terrifying ordnance as troops made the big push from Normandy into Germany.

It was then he joined the 5th Battallion The Kings, newly designated T Force, which followed closely behind the fighting troops with its own precise agenda.

The unit played a key role in winning the war by securing the German port of Kiel - a major naval base and shipbuilding centre.

Mr Tapper stresses he was an officer's batman in the unit, not a safe-breaker, brushing aside his previous bomb disposal work.

Recalling the capture of Kiel, he said: "Our colonel and a company went to the garrison while they were still shooting at us and we had to make our way to the docks to all the underground submarines.

"There were two German battleships in flames and several had sunk. We found out afterwards nearly 40,000 armed German troops surrendered to our colonel who had about 50 troops with him - they had had enough.

"Just before Kiel we had a bit of a set-to with hand-to-hand fighting. We had to use the rifle and the bayonet, but we got over that."

Though he did not know Ian Fleming, he admits: "I suppose I was a bit like James Bond. I can see that's where he got his ideas from.

"I feel honoured and proud to receive the certificate but my mates should be here getting them as well - they did all the work. I was just a batman, I didn't do what they did."

After the war Mr Tapper returned to Bridgwater and his job as a painter and decorator. He and his wife, Beatie, whom he married after the war, had two children and he is now a proud great- grandfather.

Recently at a military reunion he met soldiers returning from Afghanistan.

He says: "I admire them so much. It's dreadful that the boys are killed but the Taliban has to be stopped."

Meet the Rookie Guards of 'Arm

Columbus Short (“Whiteout”), Skeet Ulrich (TV’s “Jericho”) and Amaury Nolasco (TV’s “Prison Break”) star as young armored truck guards who, in cahoots with the veteran guards, execute a meticulously planned robbery of their own security firm, in Columbia Pictures’ new action-thriller “Armored.” However, when their seemingly foolproof plan unravels, the men turn against each other as they desperately try to save themselves. At the center of the story is Columbus Short’s character Ty Hackett, a conflicted young man unprepared for the challenges of caring for his brother and keep their modest home together.

Clip on charms

Initially, Ty refuses to even consider robbing his employer, but the threat of losing his house to the bank and his brother to foster care convinces him to join his co-workers, under one condition—no one will get hurt.Short says once he started reading the script, he couldn’t put it down. “This is a very smart movie and I fought to get the part,” he says. “It juxtaposes drama and action in a believable way. There are plenty of rock ’em, sock replica hublot watches ’em, blow ‘em up moments as well as emotionally intense scenes. And nobody’s really seen the life of these armored truck drivers before. I knew that this would become such an amazing world and an amazing story.”Skeet Ulrich plays Dobbs who is someone in over his head and unable to find a way out. “When things start to spiral out of control, he’s afraid to do the right thing,” says Ulrich. “It connects to the whole interplay of betrayal and loyalty, the push and pull between doing the right thing and being loyal to those around you.”According to Ulrich, the chemistry the cast shared is what he will remember best about the experience of making “Armored.” “I don't know how to explain it. There’s a certain understanding of each person’s position in the story as a whole. It was a pleasure to work with a group of actors who get the work done without a lot of histrionics. Some of the greatest moments I had were just sitting around talking with the guys.”  Completing the roster of replica breitling watches security guards is Palmer, played by Amaury Nolasco. “Palmer is a guy who grew up on the wrong side of the law,” says the actor. “He was a problem child, he did his time in prison and after one of his incarcerations, he found God. So he’s born again.”The shoot was an extremely collaborative experience, says Nolasco. “We all sat down together at the beginning and we brought a lot of ideas to the table. Each of us was able to set his own agenda and develop his own motive. Everybody’s got a different reason to be in this.”“I struck gold getting to act with this cast,” he continues. “Matt Dillon and Jean Reno and Laurence Fishburne have worked with some of the best directors in the business. And then there’s Skeet, Columbus and myself who are the new pups coming up and it’s like going to school for us. I tried to absorb everything like a sponge. A teacher told me once, ‘Steal from the best and make it your own,’ and that’s pretty much what I did.”Opening soon across the Philippines , “Armored” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

U.S. says sliding track is OK

The head of the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation is OK with the track at the Whistler Sliding Center.

American skeleton athletes trained on the track Monday for the first time since luger Nodar Kumaritashvili's death. 2010 Winter Olympics Chris Fog

WHISTLER, B.C. -- Chris Fogt's shoulder slid across the ice and then the bobsled went upside down.

The 26-year-old Alpine resident thought, momentarily, about letting go, but the soldier in him fought the fear and allowed him to consider the other three men counting on him.

"It burns," he said of how it feels to be dragged across the icy track when a bobsled crashes. "My right shoulder was on the ice most of the time, then we rolled over; we were upside down for replica tag heruer watches a quick second, but I looked in front of me and the other three guys are still in the sled. I'm the last one. ... If I let go, it's going to sweep the rest of them out and I just had to hold it together. I'm glad we did because we get to race again tomorrow."

Fogt was recruited into the sport two years ago when he was running track for UVU. He's picked the sport up quickly and helped push USA 2 to the second best start of Friday's four-man bobsled competition.

The run was going well until the sled did what five others did in that second run, went too high on the wall around curve 13, the now infamous 50-50 turn, and crashed first onto its side, then rolled upside down before coming to a stop on its side just past the finish line. All of the men were shaken up, and likely would be sore on Saturday, but they were glad to at least have the opportunity to finish what they've been training to do for nearly two years.

Fogt choked back emotion when asked about what it meant to him to finish his first Olympic competition, even though there is no chance he will medal.

"I'm still safe," he said. "We crossed the line, all four of us, so we come back tomorrow and try and finish in the top 10. That's all we can do."

Fogt's Thomas sabo charms family drove and flew in to support him, and it is the first Olympic experience for all of them.

"I have 12 people here supporting me," he said. "It means a lot to me. We're all staying in one house, all 12 of them. It's a four- bedroom condo. Like I said, it's going to be a good time. Here to support me and I'm happy."

It was his affection for the other three men in the sled with him that helped him hang on despite a desire to let go and be free from the pressure of a bobsled crash.

"The biggest thing for me, being in the Army, being a soldier, when I was upside down I was kind of like, 'I can't let go. You've got to finish. ... They do stuff for me everyday, and I've got to do the same for them.'"

His teammates were grateful they would get two runs today and even with the crash, they were in 17th place.

"I had a good trip going," said driver of USA 2 John Napier, who is an engineer in the Army Reserves. "Going 95 miles an hour, you make a mistake, there is no catching it. There's no making mistakes on this track, especially in four-man bob. I said earlier this week it's going to challenge the best drivers in the world and it definitely challenged me today. It got me. But it's OK. I'm just happy that God blessed us and kept us safe; everybody who crashed is safe. Nobody was severely injured, as far as I know, and that's a real blessing."

Asked if the number of crashes was alarming or made the competition unfair, Napier, who took his first trip in a bobsled with his father when he was an infant and has been driving sleds since he was eight, said no.

"It's unfortunate that so many drivers are crashing, but this is a real bobsled track," Napie
